Tarun Gogoi reviews food service

Guwahati, Feb 12 (IANS) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi issued strict orders to the National Games officials to look into complaints of goof-ups in food services in the Games Village.

Gogoi, who is also the president of the organising committee of the 33rd National Games being held here, reacted sharply to reports of food mismanagement in the Games Village and other venues. He said the concerned officials should look into the matter as there should not be any complaint on the quality of food being served.

AOA officials give Games a miss

After being sidelined by the National Games Secretariat (NGS) in managing the National Games, the office bearers of the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) remained absent from all the competition venues as well as the Games Village.

Except AOA president Tarun Gogoi and a few of his cabinet colleagues, none of the key office bearers of the apex sports body of the state were seen anywhere in the venues.

"When you don't have power over anything, it is better to stay out and let others do what they want to do," said an AOA office bearer who was miffed by NGS' attitude.
