'Iran ready for talks on nuke issue'

ahemadinejadWashington: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said Tehranis 'opposed to any proliferation' of nuclear weapons and is always ready tonegotiate about its atomic programme.

"We are opposed to any proliferation of weapons of mass destruction andnuclear weapons. We believe that the time is now over for nuclear weapons. It'sa time for logic, for rationality, and for civilisation," Ahmadinejad sources.


"We’re always ready to talk within the framework ofregulations and as long as the rights of the nations are safeguarded," hesaid.

He denied suggestions that he sought conflict with the US, saying Iran was trying to find ways tolove people.

Ahmadinejad said Iranwas ready to negotiate on the nuclear issue within the framework ofNon-Proliferation Treaty and the relationship it has with International AtomicEnergy Agency.

"We are a member of the agency, and we would like to benefit from what the rights we're entitled to. And within this framework we are ready tonegotiate" he maintained.

Asked if Iranwas heading towards installing the 3000 centrifuges and whether an announcementis expected on this subject on April 9, the Iranian leader said "We willsay it clear when the time comes." In the wide ranging interview that thenetwork has been broadcasting in parts, the Iranian President criticised US President Bush for taking aggressive stand against Tehran.

"The American President doesn't feel obliged to speak within any frameworkof law. He thinks to be above the law. We work within the framework of agencyand NPT. And we work based on laws and regulations. And we want to have what weare entitled to, not more and not less," he said.
