Raipur: Former chief minister of undivided MadhyaPradesh and senior Congress leader S C Shukla died here early this morning. Hewas 82.

Shukla, who was ailing for sometime, breathed his last at a hospital here earlythis morning, hospital authorities said.

He is survived by wife Padmini, son Amitesh and three daughters. Former UnionMinister V C Shukla is his younger brother.

The 82-year-old leader was thrice the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh -- in1969, 1975 an 1989 -- before it was bifurcated into two states, MP andChhattisgarh in November 2000.

His father Pandit Ravi Shanker Shukla was the first chief minister of MadhyaPradesh.
