Lucknow:The Congress today urged the Uttar Pradesh Governor to dismiss the stateGovernment in the light of the Supreme Court verdict upholding thedisqualification of 13 breakaway BSP MLA's as it did not expect Mulayam SinghYadav to show 'political morality' and step down.

"Now that the Supreme Court has exposed the truth and we can hardly expectYadav to show political morality, we urge you to take appropriate steps to savethe state from the continuing oppression of an illegal government," itsaid in a memorandum to Governor T V Rajeshwar.

The memorandum, signed by UPCC president Salman Khursheed and CLP leader PramodTewari, questioned the constitutional validity of the government sayingyesterday's ruling "left no explanation other than that this governmentwas formed illegally".

Khursheed later told reporters the Yadav government had "no moral right tocontinue".

He claimed that the apex court disqualified the 13 MLAs on August 28, 2003, theday they met the Governor to pledge their support to the Samajwadi Party.

"Hence, the other 24 mlas also stood disqualified," he said.

Khursheed also demanded that MLA's of the BJP, BSP and RLD who cross-votedduring the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's address in the assembly onJanuary 25 this year should also be disqualified.
