"Numerical weather prediction models indicate that a low pressure area is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal around June 20 which may concentrate into a depression," the weather office here said. As a result, increased rainfall activity is likely over Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Goa, south Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat between June 21 and June 24, it said. Under the influence of an active off-shore trough, widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls is likely along the west coast during the next two to three days, it said. The south-west monsoon set over Mumbai, eight days after the normal onset date, and covered Dahanu and Parbhani in Maharashtra, Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Sambhalpur and Keonjhargarh in Orissa, Ranchi in Jharkhand and Varanasi, Sultanpur, Bharaich and Mukteshwar in Uttar Pradesh.
