Taj MahalMumbai: The countdown has begun! According to information received from the New 7 Wonders of the World Foundation, the Taj Mahal, Agra, may still have a long way to go to make it to the acclaimed list, though it is one of the Top 10 New7Wonders finalists.

According to New7Wonders, the last rankings (all in alphabetical order) were issued on June 7, 2007. There will be no further ranking lists released prior to the Declaration of the New 7 Wonders of the World in Lisbon, Portugal on July 7.

Tia B Viering, Head of Communications, New7Wonders, said, “The candidate ranking is extremely volatile, since votes are pouring in from every corner of the world throughout each day — these millions of votes that are being submitted clearly shows that the race to name the New 7 Wonders of the World remains extremely close and is, indeed, still wide open.”

The Taj Mahal, a priceless historical monument, needs the support of each and every Indian to make it to the new 7 wonders list as currently the odds are not exactly in India’s favour.
