Chennai: Call it man's passion for endearing to his past with a touch of technology or an initiative in keeping with the times, a team of young entrepreneurs from MobileVeda, incubated at the Vellore Institute of Technology, has come out with Sangam Period Literature as mobile books.

The feat is second in succession from the team, which earlier launched a mobile book on Periyar Movement in English.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mobileveda Solutions Ganesh Ram said Tamil was one of the most ancient languages in the world and the first Indian language to go on print by the Portuguese 500 years ago.

Now, the language is going high-tech with the release of its Sangam Literature as mobile books. The mobile books can be downloaded to computers and transferred to mobile handsets. "The mobile revolution has brought the Sangam Literature to beam on our mobiles handset," an elated Ram said.

Referring to the Periyar Movement on Mobile, he said the book contained various important events in Periyar E V Ramaswamy's life in a format readable on most of the mobile handsets available now.

The MobileVeda is involved in various developmental activities in the field of Mobile Value Added Services (VAS). It also launched a web portal, www.thinnai.info,  dedicated for mobile books.
