Beijing: The body of an Australian climber, who went missing in Mount Gongga in southwest China's Sichuan Province in May, was found at Riwuqie peak, 4600 metres above the sea level, local officials today said. The body of Andrew Clem Lindenmayer was found by villagers at the peak on July 19, an official with the Ganzi prefecture government said. The Ganzi prefecture government has ordered seven towns in Kangding County to mobilise villagers to look for Lindenmayer since June. The news came a day after the Sichuan Mountaineering Association confirmed the finding of the body of Christine Boskoff, a renowned US climber, in Genyen Mountain, Xinhua news agency reported. Chinese rescuers had resumed the search for Boskoff in the Genyen Mountain this month after snow melted and found her body near the site where the body of fellow climber Charlie Fowler was found in December. The Sichuan Mountaineering Association said they appeared to have been killed in an avalanche. Boskoff (39) and Fowler (52) disappeared in November last year. Last month, searchers looking for the Australian found a body believed to be that of a Japanese mountaineer who disappeared 26 years ago in Mount Gongga. | ||||||||||||||||||
