BJP criticises Amarinder's demand

Ludhiana: The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the demand for President's rule in the state by former chief minister Amarinder Singh and said it revealed lack of faith in democratic functioning of a government. Addressing newspersons here, Punjab BJP president Rajinder Bhandari alleged that Singh did not have any respect for elected representatives of the people, even of his own party, some of whom deserted him in sheer disgust.

He also rubbished the charges of political vendetta and said that law was taking its course. In reply to a question, Bhandari said that their government had already earmarked funds for the Atta-Dal scheme in the budget. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has already announced August 15 for launching the scheme, he added.
