Cong seeks to play down SC notice to Goa govt

New Delhi: Congress today sought to play down the Supreme Court's notice to Goa government in connection with the controversial floor test in the Assembly, terming it a normal procedure.

"Courts issue notices everyday. It is just a show cause," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters and added that to attribute motive to notices and observations of court would be totally "unjust and unfair".

He was reacting to the apex court notice on a bunch of petitions filed by BJP-led alliance challenging the order of the Speaker restraining two opposition MLAs from voting in the House during the motion of confidence moved by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.
