Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh police arrested Bangladeshi national Rizwan Ghazi who could provide leads in tracking down of perpetrators of twin blasts in the city on August 25, police sources said.

Rizwan, brother of arrested Bangladeshi woman Shahi Rafsanjani, was arrested in Bangalore and is being brought here, they said. Rizwan had been at large ever since his house was raided by police in Kishanbagh locality in the old city here on September 1.

Ghazi has been staying illegally in the city for the last six years. A Hyderabad police team had gone to Bangalore following a report that Rizwan had fled to Bangalore.

Investigators believe Rizwan's interrogation could also help in cracking the May 18 blast at the Mecca Masjid here. Rizwan had reportedly made phone calls to Pakistan and Bangladesh a day before and after the blasts.

Earlier, sources had revealed that 35 calls were made to Pakistan and Bangladesh in three days from August 24. The investigators are likely to take police custody of Rafsanjani who is now in judicial remand.
