Jaipur: S K Singh, who was shifted from Arunachal Pradesh, was today sworn in as the new Governor of Rajasthan. Justice J M Panchal, the acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, administered the oath of office to Singh, a former foreign secretary, at a ceremony in the Raj Bhavan.
Haryana Governor A R Kidwai was holding the gubernatorial charge of the state since Mrs Pratibha Patil resigned on the eve of the presidential election in July. Singh was given a guard of honour by the state police and he took a salute and inspection of the parade.
Talking to media persons, he said Rajasthan is progressing a lot and added he would focus his attention on water and information technology development. Water supply and desertification would be areas of concern for him, Singh said and added that he is happy to be here.
