Justice J M Panchal, the Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, administered the oath of office to Singh, who was shifted from Arunachal Pradesh. Haryana Governor A R Kidwai was holding an additional gubernatorial charge of the state since Mrs Pratibha Patil resigned on the eve of the presidential election in July. Singh was given a guard of honour by the state police and he took a salute and inspection of the parade. Talking to media persons, he said Rajasthan is progressing a lot and added he would focus his attention on water and information technology development. Water supply and desertification would be areas of concern for him, Singh said and added that he is happy to be here.
