London: Sir Ben Kinglsey, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Mahatama Gandhi, has secretly married a Brazilian actress little more than half his age. This is Ben's fourth marriage.
Ben, 63,married 34-year-old Daniela Barbose de Carneiro at a secret ceremony on Monday in presence of just a dozen guests at Eynsham Hall, a few km from his Oxfordshire home at Spelsbury. The couple had been dating for a year after being introduced by mutual friends in Hollywood.
Instead of going on a honeymoon, Daniela will accompany Sir Ben on the shoot of his new film "The Love Guru" in Canada. In an interview to The Daily Telegraph , Sir Ben dismissed their age difference and spoke effusively about his young bride. "It is a perfectly balanced relationship, which like scales, includes its swings," he was quoted as saying by the paper.
"Without sounding pompous, she looks like a combination of ancient Egypt and ancient Rome," the veteran said. Speaking about the wedding ceremony, Sir Ben said: "It was blissfully private and beautiful. Then we came to Spelsbury and there were readings by friends."
The actor said he was planning a bigger party in the near future, to which family and friends would be invited, including his children. After the ceremony the couple was taken to London in a black limousine for dinner at The Ivy, the paper reported. Daniela's roles have, so far, been confined to walk-on parts in several British television series, including "Casualty".
