Kochi: Unhappy with the LDF government's proposed plans to ratify all the illegal title deeds in Kerala's Idukki district, Collector Raju Narayanaswamy, who was handpicked by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for the Munnar mission, is planning to go on long leave.
"Efforts are being made by the government to ratify all the nearly 532 illegal pattayams (title deeds) issued by controversial former Deputy Tehsildar of Devikulam, Ravindran, which includes the pattayams of the CPI and CPI(M) offices in Idukki," the senior IAS officer, who took charge as Idukki collector hardly 3 months ago, told PTI.
"I do not want to be party to the illegal deal. The hilly Idukki district has become a land Grabbers den. I came to Idukki with the ambition that all land grabbers will be thrown out. But the death-knell of the mission has been rung by the party in power. I do not want to be a mute spectator. I may go on leave in a day or two", he said.
Narayanaswamy, who tok his B.Tech degree in Computer Science from IIT Chennai in 1989, is expecting an assignment in the IT sector after proceeding on leave.
Narayanaswamy's report to the Chief Minister against the alleged irregularities in land dealings of relatives of former PWD Minister T U Kuruvilla, landed the minister in a tight spot, culminating in Kuruvilla's resignation on September 3.
