Cape Town: South Africa scored a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the final group A game of the Twenty20 World Cup in Cape Town on Saturday.
Chasing 145 for a win, South Africa achieved the target in the 19th over, courtesy skipper Graeme Smith and Albie Morkel's 41 each.
Earlier, two superb fielding efforts by JP Duminy helped South Africa dismiss Bangladesh for 144. Duminy's dive and under-arm throw from extra cover ran out Shakib Al Hasan for 19 in the eighth over.
Three overs later, Duminy backpedalled and dived to take a spectacular catch after Masharafe Mortaza, who scored 12, skied a drive off fast bowler Vernon Philander.
Bangladesh, who were put in to bat, struggled to keep the momentum going once the wickets began to fall.
While Aftab Ahmed (36) was the top scorer for Bangladesh, pace bowler Shaun Pollock took three for 40.
