Thiruvananthapuram: Considering the fast- paced growth of tourism, public-sector telecommunication service provider BSNL has come out with a special mobile phone service for foreign tourists visiting the country.
Under the scheme, to be launched soon in Kerala, BSNL would offer special pre-paid SIM for foreign tourists with a sale value of 'Ts 5618' and talk value of Rs 3000, BSNL's CGM for Kerala, K S Sreenivasan, said.
The scheme's call charges would be the same as that of pre-paid general and its validity would be for 30 days.
Some of the additional services introduced by BSNL recently included Resource Tracking and Management Service (RTMS), which would enable enterprises in transport sector to track, monitor, and manage fleets with a simple web browser that would show the "tracked resource" on a computer.
A similar service for ordinary consumers called "people finder" was also on the cards, he said. Of the state's telephone density of 35 to 36 per 100 population, BSNL's landline and mobile services accounted for 19 per 100 population.
Kerala's telephone density stood much higher than the national average of 20 to 21 per 100 population.
In the current year, Kerala circle planned to give 3.26 lakh landline, 8.5 lakh mobile and 1.23 lakh broadband connections.
