Islamabad: President Pervez Musharraf will form a caretaker government of non-political and neutral personalities after the end of the term of Pakistan's national and provincial assemblies on November 15 to hold a free and fair general election, a minister said. "Soon after November 15,the President would announce an interim set-up and names of some non-political entities are under consideration in this regard," Information and Broadcasting Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani told reporters here.
"This set-up would hold free, fair and transparent general elections which would pioneer a new political culture of completing the terms of assemblies and holding transparent elections on time," he said. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had announced yesterday that an interim government would be formed after November 15 for the sole purpose of conducting an impartial general election and that the army chief would have no role in political affairs. Durrani said the masses and members of parliament and four provincial assemblies had expressed their full confidence in Musharraf's leadership by re-electing him in Saturday's presidential poll.
