Half the air accidents take place due to man error

New Delhi: Half the air accidents the world over take place due to human error, an International flight safety conference here was told today.

At the conference being attended by Air Safety and aviation experts, including military aviation from 30 countries, was told that 45 percent of air crashes had human or pilot error as the cause.

Forty-five percent of the air accidents, the renowned international experts said, was due to technical glitches and the remaining 10 percent could only be attributed to flying environment.

The conference was inaugurated by the Air Chief Fali Homi Major who said that global exchanges on flight safety assumed paramount importance in view of aviation boom, which would bring the challenge of crowded skies and huge pressures on aviation infrastructures.

The conference, besides flight safety experts is being attended by National Aviation organisations like the DGCA, Airports Authority of India and commerical airliners.

The conference would be deliberating tri-services pan defence aviation, regulatory and safety measures accident investigation techniques and come up with remedies.
