Chennai: After being "punished" with suspension for throwing a cap at the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker, AIADMK MLA A K Bose had his apartment at the MLA quarters here sealed by Assembly staff as he was not entitled to any privilege or pecuniary benefit during the suspension period.
"In keeping with Speaker R Avudaiappan's order, the apartment was locked and sealed and a notice has been pasted warning against attempts to open the door," official sources said. The legislator's assistants and friends, who were present at the apartment, were asked to take their belongings and vacate the place. However, Bose, representing Tiruparankundram constituency, was not present, the sources added.
The MLA was suspended up to first ten days of the next Assembly session after he was "caught" on the camera while throwing a cap of a watch and ward staff at the Speaker during a melee in the House on Thursday over a privilege issue raised against AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa. As it was initially not known who flung the cap towards the chair, the video clippings of the proceedings were viewed and Bose was identified. Taking serious note of his "misconduct," the House unanimouly adopted a resolution, suspending him till the first ten days of the next session. During the suspension period, he could not enjoy any privileges and benefits, including salary, as an MLA, it said.
