Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party MLA Amarmani Tripathi would appeal in the High Court against the special court decision of sentencing him and his wife to life imprisonment in poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case, his lawyer said here today.

"We will appeal in the High Court against the decision," Vijay Vikram, lawyer of Amarmani, said.

Asked about the role of CBI in the case, he said that he was not questioning the credibility of the government agency but was not satisfied with its findings against Amarmani and his wife Madhumani.

The District and Sessions court in Dehradun today sentenced Amarmani and his wife Madhumani to life imprisonment in the poetess murder case. Two other accused, Rohit Chaturvedi and Santosh Roy, also got life term while another accused in the case, Prakash Pandey, was acquitted.
