Bangalore: Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy today sought to shoot down moves by a section of his partymen to revive coalition ties with the Congress to install another government to avoid snap polls to the state assembly.
"Any decision to be taken by the JDS will have to be in the interest of the party's future and strengthening the organisation," he told reporters here.
"I have plans to convene a meeting of the Legislature party soon. We will remain united and take a decision. There will be no scope for splitting the party," Kumaraswamy said, obviously referring to the developments in his party with senior leader M P Prakash himself engaged on a mission to explore possibilities of formation of a government.
"There is no proposal either by the Congress or BJP to us for forming the government. Hence I can't say I will form the government," Kumaraswamy said, expressing displeasure over the ongoing efforts by Prakash.
"If any one had approached us, I also would have considered it. When there is nobody, if we alone discuss it, is it possible?," he asked. Referring to statements by Union Minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan who ruled out the Congress having truck with JDS, Kumaraswamy said, "The person whom Prakash met has already made his party stand clear."
"I welcome Prakash's initiatives. I wish it succeeds," he said, sarcastically. "There are no challenges before me right now," he said when asked about his future plans.
