New Delhi: With Karnataka under President's rule, Governor Rameshwar Thakur today said he was open to exploring alternative arrangement but no proposal has so far come from any political party.
"It depends upon the political parties to decide. No such proposal has come," he told reporters when asked how soon the assembly, which is under suspended animation, would be revived.
Asked about reports of JD(S) and BJP again joining hands to form a government after they parted ways, Thakur, who is camping here for the past few days, said all constitutional obligations would have to be looked into. We want a system to be in place until elected representatives are in a position to decide", he said.
Thakur had so far met President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil. Asked how long the spell of Presidents's rule would continue, he said he would not be in a position to say and his job was to carry out effectively the activities of the state government as per the provisions of the Constitution.
Noting that advisers to assist him in running the administration would be appointed shortly, he said he has also decided to organise "Janata Durbar" for three days -- Monday, Wednesday and Friday -- in Bangalore to address the grievances of the people. Such gathering would be organised by senior officers in other places.
The state was placed under Cental rule and the state assembly in suspended animation following resignation of the Kumaraswamy Government after BJP withdrew its support when the JD(S) refused to honour the power-sharing accord between the two parties.
