New Delhi: Seeking to bring together the people and their cultures across boundaries, A South Asian Film festival started here today with focus on Pakistan. The six-day South Asian Film Festival... Dissolving Boundaries began with the screening of Pakistani film Muhabbtan Sachiyan , a story on love triangle with a social message. "This is after 40 years that a Pakistani film is being commercially released in India," Rahul Barua, Secretary General of South Asia Foundation(SAF) told PTI.
Pakistan is the focus country of this year. It is being represented by prominent film makers and personalities like Zeba Bakhtiar, Reema Khan and Veena Malik among others. Indian film industry is being represented by actors Manisha Koirala, Govinda, directors Shyam Benegal, Madhur Bhandarkar, Sudhir Mishra, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rekha Bhardwaj, Pankuj Parashar and others.
The event will also witness the world premiere of Nepali film "Kagbeni by Bhushan Dahal on October 26. This is the second festival of its kind which will screen a total of 45 feature films, documentaries and short films. The participating countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
