Bangalore: In a sudden change of development in Karnataka politics, JD(S), who has declared its support for BJP to form a government yesterday is reported to spilt as one of the party's senior leader M P Prakash has opposed to the revival of ties between BJP and JD(S). Reports say that Prakash may join hand with the Congress and even held talks with the party in New Delhi to get support to form a government in the state. Meanwhile, all MLAs will be paraded in front of the Governor to prove strength today. Senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa said, "We will parade all MLAs in front of the Governer." "MLAs to be paraded to prove our strength," he added.
Senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa today visited the residence of JD(S) leader M P Prakash in the wake of the latter’s opposition to the revival of ties between the two parties.
The former deputy chief minister drove to Prakash’s residence this morning and sought his cooperation in the formation of a BJP-led coalition government, sources close to Prakash told mediapersons. Yeddyurappa also requested Prakash, a seasoned parliamentarian, to join his ministry and guide the government.
Prakash, who felt betrayed by JD(S) top leaders in unilaterally announcing the party’s support to BJP to form the government after deputing him to Delhi to hold parleys with the Congress on government formation, is of the opinion that his party had let him down. Prakash has questioned the rationale behind JD(S) supremo H D Gowda’s decision to knock on the doors of BJP after refusing to transfer power to that party and directing him to approach the Congress.
Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy also called on Prakash last night and held discussions. In the midst of all these developments Prakash continued consultations with close aides on his next moves, sources said. Some of the legislators who have thrown their lot behind Prakash, told him that the party has betrayed them by keeping them in dark on the issue of reforging ties with BJP. "Not even for courtesy’s sake did the JD(S) top leadership consult them,” they said.
