Chennai: The CPI(M) has ruled out formation of a Third Front by Left Parties at the national level in immediate future. "We have no plans to form a Third Front immediately," CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat told reporters after meeting DMK patriarch and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at his residence here during which the Indo-US nuclear deal and the current political developments in the country came up for discussion.
"We want a commonality of approach by political parties on the nuclear deal. That was why, we also met the leaders of UNPA in New Delhi recently," Karat said.
Asked whether there was a threat to the UPA government in the wake of the stand-off with Left parties over the nuclear deal, he said "as far as we are concerned, there is no threat to the Government." Source : PTI
