Mumbai: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Monday postponed the civil services examination in the subjects of political science and public administration to be held on October 31 fearing that the question paper has been leaked.

Official sources said the leak was detected in a north Indian state on Monday afternoon and that the UPSC authorities had compared a copy of the leaked paper and the original and confirmed it.

The date for the rescheduled exam will be announced in a couple of days, UPSC sources said.

Nearly 5,000 candidates are appearing for the civil services main exams that started on October 26.
