Russia to hold talks with Iran
Tuesday, October 30, 2007 13:24 [IST]

Tehran: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran today, Iranian officials said.

The meeting, scheduled for 2130 hrs IST, takes place amid rising tension between Iran and the United States over Tehran's disputed nuclear programme.

Iran rejects Western accusations it is seeking to build nuclear bombs. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a visit to Tehran, told Washington two weeks ago that Moscow would not accept military action against the Islamic Republic.
