Jammu: Commemorating 60 years of independence and 150 years of first war of independence, country s mobile train exhibition Azadi Express today recieved a warm welcome as people thronged to have a glimpse of its pictorial repository of events.
"Over 80 thousand persons including school students thronged to have a glimpse of the pictorial repository of multiple stages of freedom struggle and 60-year-long journey of independence for the past two days," Azadi Express incharge Abdul Mann said.
"As I walked through coaches of the Azadi train, I felt like I was part of the freedom struggle and independence," said a student Anu Gupta. Azadi train exhibition reached Jammu on October 28 and was inaugurated by the state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Mann said the 11 coach exhibition depicts the 150 years of independence struggle through photographs, diorama, scrolls cut-outs and videos. He said Azadi Express would pass through 68 destinations across the country and will conclude on May 15 next year.
The mobile train exhibition has been organised by the Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP). Human Resource Development minister Arjun Singh flagged off the Azadi Express from New Delhi on September 28.
