Kanpur: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) chairman has been summoned by a local court in connection with a question paper prepared by the commision which allegedly used the word terrorist to describe Sardar Bhagat Singh.
The General Studies paper of Civil Services Examination (mains) last week had allegdly used the word terroist for the famous freedom fighther.
The summon issued by the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate R K Bansal yesterday has asked the UPSC chairman to appear before it on November one.
The summon follows a petition filed in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court demanding action against the UPSC chairman under Sections 500, 501 and 502 of the IPC for using the word terrorist for the great freedom fighter and hurting the sentiments of the people of the country.
A report from Varanasi said Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists today took out a procession there in protest against the blunder and burnt the effigy of the UPSC chairman.
