Defamation case against singer Daler Mehndi

Ludhiana: A defamation case has been filed in a court here against noted Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi for allegedly defaming the previous Congress regime in the state. In his case filed in the court of Judicial Magistrate, advocate Rana Harjasdeep Singh said that Mehndi, during of a stage show here on October 27,had said that he could not perform in the last five years in Punjab as the then Congress government "had implicated him in false cases of human trafficking".

Singing a song, the singer termed the Congress government as "a regime of gundas and dacoits". The complainant said that the party had suffered a loss of reputation by the words and song of Daler Mehndi. Judge Tarsem Lal posted the matter for November 23 for further hearing.
