Bangalore: Seeking to mount pressure on Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur, senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today threatened to parade the 129 BJP-JD(S) MLAs before President Pratibha Patil if he does not invite the combine's nominee B S Yeddyurappa to form the government by this evening.
In a forceful plea at a BJP public meeting, she appealed to the Governor to invite Yeddyurappa and swear him in as Chief Minister and give seven-ten days time to prove majority.
She alleged that the Assembly was kept under suspended animation with the objective of allowing the Congress to indulge in horse-trading, which however did not succeed.
She justified the BJP joining hands with the JD(S) again, saying there are no permanent friends and enemies in politics. "Has the Congress not joined hands with the DMK, which it had accused of playing a role in the killing of Rajiv Gandhi ?," she asked.
Swaraj said that she has come here to appeal to the Governor to invite Yeddyurappa to form the government without delay. "The challenge before the Governor is protection of democracy or murder of democracy," she said.
