Application filed to summon JD(S) leader Prakash
Wednesday, October 31, 2007 18:10 [IST]

Bangalore: An application was filed before Assembly Speaker Krishna today for summoning senior JD(S) leader M P Prakash in connection with the petitions filed seeking disqualification of 40 JD(S) MLAs, including former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Vatal Nagaraj (Vatal Party) and S Rajendran (RPI) in their application, submitted that it was necessary to summon Prakash, who was the JD(S) legislature party leader in January last year when Kumaraswamy broke his party's alliance with Congress and later formed a government with the BJP.

Nagaraj and three others filed the petition, seeking disqualification of 40 JD(S) MLAs last March. The speaker will hear the matter on November 17.

Kumaraswamy had filed an application earlier praying for summoning of JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda as witness and the speaker had upheld the contention.

Krishna has already issued summons to Gowda, asking him to appear before him on November 17 to explain the circumstances under which he wrote a letter to the then Governor T N Chaturvedi not to recognise the JD(S) group led by his son, Kumaraswamy.
