Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today informed the Madras High Court that the state government had failed in its duty in providing adequate protection to her under the Z Plus category.
This was stated in her reply to the counter affidavit filed by the Home Secretary. When the petition filed by Jayalalithaa, seeking a direction to the state government to ensure full protection to her under Z Plus category came up for hearing before Justice K Suguna, counsel for Jayalalithaa N Jothi filed her reply to the counter.
After Advocate General R Viduthalai sought time to file his rejoinder to the reply, the judge posted to November 6, further hearing of the petition.
In her reply, Jayalalithaa denied the government s claim that 55 police personnel has been provided to her and said it was totally false and not based on ground realities.
Under no circumstances had she written any letter refusing to accept the bulletproof car. If the government provides the bulletproof car, she was ready to accept the same, she added. Jayalalithaa said that in order to put to an end to the claims and counter claims with regard to security, the court may consider constituting a panel, comprising a retired DGP and IAS officer of her nominee and senior IAS/Police Officers representing the government to monitor the scale of security being provided to her by the Government.
