Alibag: Four Shiv Sena workers were today sentenced for life for murdering a local NCP leader in Raigad district's Mahad tehsil in March last year.
Judicial Magistrate Arvind Kale convicted Deepak Shelar, Sandesh Palande, Rajkumar Jadhav and Umesh Jadhav for killing Vijay Palande near the Aachloli village in the wee hours of March one, 2006, over a dispute during elections to local self government bodies.
Palande, also a trustee of the Raigad Military School was returning from a function when he was killed by four people.
According to the sources, Palande and the four had some dispute during elections to local bodies held in early 2006 and the four decided to kill him later due to political rivalry.
