Daler Mehndi vents his ire on media
Wednesday, October 31, 2007 23:35 [IST]

Chandigarh: Singer Daler Mehndi lost his cool when quizzed by the media here on a recent controversy involving him. Daler, who was here to address a press conference in connection with his show today, began by giving details about his career and the charity works he has been doing.

He, however, got angry when cutting him short media persons started quizzing him about the latest defamation case filed against him in Ludhiana on October 30 for allegedly defaming the previous Congress regime in the state in a song of his. "They (media) are not aware about full facts", Daler shot back at them.

"The lyrics were not against any particular person, certainly not against (former Chief Minister) Capt Amarinder Singh" he said. Daler who sereved a prison sentence in connection with a case of human trafficking during the Captain Amarinder singh regime claimed he had been framed in the case.

Asking why he would take Rs 12 lakh from two people to send them abroad when he was himself spending lakhs of rupees on charity Daler said it was unfortunate that media only asked questions about controversies ignoring the good work which he had been doing.

Asked why he was promoting a liquor company by agreeing to do shows for it he angrily said he was going to sing his songs at the show and do nothing else and left the press conference in a huff.
