SIO opposes sex education in schools
Wednesday, November 07, 2007 14:15 [IST]

Coimbatore: Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) today expressed strong reservation over sex education in schools, terming it "another form of pornography".

The young generation has already been "degenerated" by the so-called entertainment through TV, radio and internet, which were promoting "fake social ethos", SIO general secretary, Hasmathulla Khan told reporters here today. Besides, there was no (no) safety in majority of educational institutions to send girls for co-education, he said, vehemently opposing sex education in schools.

Though science and humanities were part of the curriculum, relations between God and man and humanbeing themselves and the relation between man and universe remain unexplained in the present education system, he said. Khan was speaking to reporters as the National Caravan of SIO for creating awareness on quality education entered Tamil Nadu after being flagged off from Thiruvananthapuram.

Two other caravans have started from West Bengal and Delhi. With a central theme of redefining education-regaining struggle-renovating society , all the three would converge at Mumbai on Nov 25, where a national conference would be held. The conference would mark the 25 years of SIO's activities in the country, he said.

Though science and humanities were part of the curriculum, relations between God and man and humanbeing themselves and the relation between man and universe remain unexplained in the present education system, he said. As far reservation was concerned, SIO was of the view that socially, economically and politically backward should be given reservation in education sector, Khan said.
