Wednesday, November 07, 2007 18:02 [IST]

Kozhikode: Six persons were arrested after unaccounted money to the tune of over Rs 80 lakh was seized from them on the Kerala-Karnataka border in neighbouring Wayanad district today, police said.

According to the sources, acting on a tip-off, a police team laid trap for the suspects near Ponkuzhi on the inter-state border and nabbed them from a Kerala state-owned Mysore-Kozhikode bus. Following a thorough search, police recovered the money, which was kept hidden by the accused.

The money was reportedly being brought for illegal distribution at Koduvally and Vengara in Kozhikode.
