Bhopal: A sum of Rs 10 crore will be spent for the education, health, housing and employment needs of three backward tribes of Madhya Pradesh, official sources said.
The money has been released by the Centre under the Tribal Conservation and Development Scheme for the Saharia, Baiga and Bharia tribes of the state, they said.
Though the Centre had initially promised to extend Rs 6.60 crore for the project, but impressed by the plan, it raised the money to Rs 10 crore, they said.
Under the special scheme for the tribals, the state government will work on six sectors - education, health and nutrition, drinking water, agriculture and irrigation, housing and employment generation, sources said.
Around 64 per cent of the grant will be utilised for Saharia tribe, 29 per cent for Baiga and five per cent for uplift of Bharia tribe, in villages identified under the project, they added.
