2 more die of Encephalitis, toll reaches 430

Gorakhpur: The encephalitis menace continued unabated in the region as two more patients succumbed to the fatal disease here today, taking the toll to 430. The deceased were admitted in BRD Medical College hospital after being infected by the disease.

The recent casualty have mounted the total death toll to 430 since January this year, the health department sources said. 21 new encephalitis patients were admitted to various hospitals during last 24 hours, the Additional Director (Health) L P Rawat said adding a total of 143 people are still being treated at BRD-MCH and other hospitals of the region.
