Thursday, November 15, 2007 16:27 [IST]

Ghaziabad: Father of a victim in the Nithari serial killings today withdrew in court his statement that a saw, which was allegedly used in the criminal acts, was recovered from a bathroom in the house of accused Moninder Singh Pandher.

During cross-exanination in the court of CBI judge Rama Jain by the defence counsel, Nand lal, father of 22-year-old Payal, also denied that a copy of the case diary was given to him by former Noida Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dinesh Yadav. He told the court that the copy of the case diary was handed over to him by his own advocate Khalid Khan.

Deposing before the court, Nand Lal denied his statement that the saw was recovered from the bathroom of Pandher's house in his presence and that it had been used for "cutting" up the victims.

In a turn-about from his earlier statements, he said that no bribe had been paid to DSP Yadav by Pandher's manager in his presence during the probe which was carried out by CBI.
