Bijnor: Rashtriya Lok Dal President Chaudhary Ajit Singh today accused Mayawati of being apathetic to the condition of farmers in the state and termed her government as anti-farmer.
Addressing a conference of party workers here yesterday Singh alleged that the Mayawati government was more interested in raising busts and statues of certain persons than in ameliorating the condition of farmers and addressing the problems of common man.
The government had sanctioned Rs 150 crore for raising memorials while a meagre Rs 50 crore had been sanctioned for nutritive diet of policemen, he said trying to substantiate his charge.
Expressing the urgency for the creation of a new state called Harit Pradesh in Western UP, Singh exhorted all political parties to come together strongly for the cause. He said its creation was a must for the development of the region.
Earlier, speaking to the media persons at the PWD Inspection House, Ajit Singh alleged that the farmers have not yet been paid the price of sugarcane supplied to the sugar mills last year as a result of which the they are in deep financial crises.
