Jammu: Observing that military's lack of faith in democracy was the root of political instability in Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt General (retd) S K Sinha today expressed the hope that the situation would soon improve in the neighbouring country.
"Religious fundamentalism and denial of democracy is the root cause behind the present crisis in Pakistan," Sinha said, adding people in that country would enjoy and development once the situation returns to normalcy. He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an interactive session with students who are embarking on a countrywide tour on behalf of the Army under Operation Sadhbavana.
The Governor gave the students an overview of the places they are going to visit and said that the opportunity would enable them to see the progress taking place in various states of the country and attitude of the youth towards life.
Welcoming such tours, he said that youth exchange programmes were important for acquiring knowledge and developing their personality.
