Bangalore: Amid an air of uncertainty over its coalition partner, the JDS, continuing support, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will move a vote of confidence in the state assembly tomorrow to prove the majority of the combine.
Under direction from Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Yeddyurappa will be moving a one-line motion that reads "this house expresses its confidence in the council of ministers headed by B S Yeddyurappa," legislature secretariat sources said.
Yeddyurappa, who was sworn-in Chief Minister on November 12, along with four ministers belonging to the saffron party, had announced that he would seek the trust vote on November 23, but the Governor rejected the request and set November 19 as the date.
In the event of the JDS agreeing to support the motion, Yeddyurappa will have a smooth sailing. However, uncertainty gripped the Yeddyurappa ministry in the wake of insistence by the JDS to ink its 12-point memorandum of understanding for an assurance of its support.
Opposition Congress is all set to grill the BJP-JDS combine, exposing its "opportunistic politics of power" and the fissures that has been haunting them even after they revived their coalition ties to rule the state.
Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is also taking this opportunity to attack the BJP on various political developments that unfolded after the collpase of the government led by him.
