Sunday, November 18, 2007 18:42 [IST]

Kozhikode: Passengers of national carrier Air India staged a protest at the Karipur International airport here today after the Dubai-Kozhikode flight arrived almost 24 hours behind its schedule.

"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should reply why such an unnecessary delay took place and tbe Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel should apologise to us," IUML leader and one of the passengers Dr M K Muneer said. The flight, originally scheduled to arrive early morning yesterday, reached here at 4.00 am today following which the passengers launched an agitation infront of the emigration counter at the airport.

"No alternate arrangements were made for stay and food for the passengers who were put to severe hardship," Muneer said. Flaying Air India for "frequently" indulging in such delays, he said the Centre should intrevene in the matter immediately and find a permanent solution to the problem.
