Troop withdrawal dangerous for J-K: BJP
Sunday, November 18, 2007 21:20 [IST]

Jammu: The BJP today warned the Congress-led state and central government that withdrawal of troops, especially from the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir, can provide opportunity to the militant outfits to regroup.

"The lowering of guards, especially in the border districts of Poonch-Rajouri, Kupwara and other places can lead to dangerous consequences by providing opportunity to the militants to regroup and re-establish their hide-outs at places from where the troops had dislodged them," senior BJP leader, Chaman Lal Gupta said.

The former Union Minister also alleged that the developmental projects undertaken in Poonch-Rajouri areas during the NDA rule have been slowed down and even the condition of Jammu-Rajouri road is far from satisfactory.

He also said that the local people have been complaining about the deploring conditions of educational and health institutions stemming out of poor supply of electricity and drinking water.
