Nagpur: The Maharashtra Assembly today paid rich tributes to former Chief Minister late Babasaheb Bhosale, former Deputy Chief Minister Ramrao Adik and five legislators on the opening day of winter session here today. Leader of the House, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh moved the condolence motion remembering contribution of late Bhosale, who was Chief Minister during 1982-83, Adik, Malti Joshi, Saitaram Sawant, Balwantrao Chavan, Yeshwant Borole and Shaligram Dixit.
The House was chaired by Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar. Deshmukh said Bhosale was an humble leader and rose to the highest position in the state while Adik was first Maharashtrian to occupy the post of advocate general of the state.
Shiv Sena group leader and former Speaker Dattaji Nalawade, BJP group leader Eknath Khadse, Ganpatrao Deshmukh (PWP), Wamanrao Chatap (Swantra Bharat), Madhukar Pichad (Cong) also spoke on the occasion.
Leader in the Upper House, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil moved the resolution to mourn the demise of these members along with council member Hiraman Mohekar. Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh was in chair. Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Phundkar (BJP), Nitin Gadkari (BJP), B T Deshmukh (Ind), Finance Minister Jayant Patil, Cooperation Minister Patangrao Kadam, Madhukar Sarpotdar, Ulhas Pawar, Kapil Patil, Deputy Chairman Vasant Davkhare and others joined in paying homage to late members.
Both Houses were adjourned as a mark of respect to the departed leaders.
