NSA for guilty of throwing acid on women

Kanpur: With the recent spate in incidents of throwing acid on women in the state the UP government has decided to apply the National Securities Act (NSA) to those found guilty of the crime.

"The state government is serious about crime against women and children and has decided to apply the National Securities Act (NSA) to those found guilty of throwing acid on women", DGP Vikram Singh and Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told a joint press conference here after a review meeting of four divisions and 20 districts today.

People found guilty in similar cases (of acid throwing on women) in the past may also be brought to book under the provisions of the NSA, the DGP added. The review meeting which was held after completion of six months of Mayawati government in the state also ordered departmental inquiries and adverse entries against 20 administrative and four police officlas, they informed.
