Chennai: Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) would stage a demonstration in New Delhi on November 22 to draw the attention of Parliament, judiciary and the executive to the "dwindling" representation of OBCs in Central Government jobs.
Citing a recent submission made by the Solicitor General to the Supreme Court, PMK founder S Ramadoss said 12.5 per cent of people belonging to the OBCs had occupied Central Government jobs in 1990 when the then V P Singh Government announced implementation of the Mandal Commission's report.
The Commission recommended 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in Central and State Government jobs. However, the percentage had come down to 5.3 per cent over the last 15 years till 2005, Singh told reporters.
Ramadoss said he would lead the demonstration in which leaders of backward classes from various states would participate.
