New Delhi: Delhi and London today joined hands to work together to promote business, sports, urban transport, environmental issues for mutual interest.
An understanding to this effect was signed between Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and London Mayor Ken Livingstone here at a function. After signing the agreement, Livingstone said, "Delhi is one of the beautiful cities in the world and London can learn social tolerance from it."
He appreciated the local government's efforts to make the city's green cover increase 15-fold in the last decade, earning special recognition in the world. He also praised the government's initiative to work in partnership with the community through Bhagidari , saying it was a unique step that required strong political will.
He hoped that Delhi will organise Commonwealth Games 2010 in a fruitful manner.
